Not too far from Holliday Lake State Park, along the Appomattox River, was a Native American village where people began living about 6,000 years ago. Evidence of their existence can be found scattered across this region in the form of a very important tool: the projectile point. Stones shaped by force and attached to the end of a wooden shaft became the predominant method for hunting and defense for this culture and others around the world.

Join us to learn the ancient art of spear-throwing with a modern twist, and discover your connections to the people of the past. This program is designed for anyone 10 years of age and older. Pre-registration is required if your group has 10 or more individuals. Please email Evan.Spears@dcr.virginia.gov to sign up for this program, ask questions regarding park programs, or set up private programs for a group. ***Location detail: Amphitheater (Campfire Circle) More information: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/holliday-lake.shtml
