Bear Creek Lake is an ideal basecamp for exploring other parks in the central piedmont of Virginia. Four other Virginia State Parks are less than an hour’s drive from Bear Creek Lake.
If you are interested in history, Sailor’s Creek Historical State Park, the scene of horrific fighting during the final days of the Civil War, is just a 40 minute drive. Or if trails are more your thing, you can experience the majesty of High Bridge Trail State Park, a 31-mile long rail-to-trail from Burkeville to Pamplin featuring the 2,422 long High Bridge, which can be accessed from several different parking areas.
Neither of those parks have overnight accommodations, but fit perfectly in your Bear Creek Lake experience. Contact the individual parks directly for information on their activities and event fees. Your valid Bear Creek Lake parking pass will be honored when you visit any other Virginia State Park.
To make an overnight reservation for a Bear Creek Lake cabin or campsite, contact the Customer Service Center at 1-800-PARK (7275).
