Calling all trail workers. Join Natural Resource Specialist Jordon Blevins and learn to maintain a trail to the International Mountain Biking Association standards. Meet at Raider’s Run Trailhead at 9:00 a.m. Anyone interested in becoming a trail volunteer, please pre-register at the Discovery Center so we know how many tools to bring. Bring water, good footwear and gloves. Afterwards, if you are interested, sign up as an Adopt-A-Trail volunteer.
Also, while hiking the Lake Trail between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. stop by our Interactive
Trail Table, near the Colson Place and practice tips and tricks to survive in the outdoors with Katie Cordle, Virginia Master Naturalist.
Or if you are walking along Molly’s Trail near the intersection of the Ridge Trail, stop at the Interactive Trail Table and try your hand at geocaching with one of our interpreters between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Finally at 3:00 p.m. at the Discovery Center, join an interpreter and create your own hiking stick as you learn a little about our 18 miles of trails at “the Mother”.
