The Request a Ranger program gives single families or groups a chance to engage in activities not otherwise scheduled during their visit to the park. Each presentation will be geared to the ages and interests of the participants and will be presented to only your family or group. Maximum group size is 10. Each presentation is 45 to 60 minutes long. Time slots are Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Stop by the park office by 9:00 a.m. and select a program or activity from menu. Have an interest but don’t see it on the menu? Ask the ranger. Request a Ranger is first come-first serve and only one request can be met per scheduled time slot.

-Discovery Walk. We’ll find what we find, and appreciate forest diversity.
-Senses of Nature. A walk and look at Sassafras, Spicebush, and Sourwood.
-The Big Idea. How the park came to be, and the New Deal Era.
-Bear Necessities. A ranger show and tell about being in black bear country.
-Leaf ID. A walk to learn how to identify several species of Virginia trees.
-Spectacular Snakes. A ranger show and tell about the snakes of Virginia.
