A small, quiet campground with corrals, Bonney Meadows (north of Bonney Meadows Rd, or FS Road #4891) is adjacent to beautiful meadows lined with single track used by hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Campers can wake up and go for a stroll along Bonney Meadows Trail #471. Located on a high ridge near a lush meadow. The best time to visit Bonney Butte (south of Bonney Meadows Rd.) is in early fall. On September and October weekends, master birders volunteering for HawkWatch International will be doing their annual raptor count. A range of birds of prey, from golden eagles, vultures, and red-tailed hawks to smaller Cooper’s and sharp-shinned hawks may be taking advantage of ridgetop updrafts to wind their way south using the long ridgelines to the east of Mount Hood as a pathway.
