Housed in a converted 1920 dairy barn, the center is located within Mauch Chunk Lake Park. CCEEC promotes awareness and understanding of our environment through education. Open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. On our parcel (about 60 acres) of Mauch Chunk Lake Park property, you’ll find trails to explore, butterfly and bird gardens, and a (winter only) bird feeding station. The one area not to be missed is the elevated boardwalk trail, which is not only accessible by all who visit, but best of all, takes visitors past all of our non-releasable birds of prey. Also available for visitors’ use are a picnic pavilion, and Clivus Multrum (waterless composting restroom). The trails and grounds at CCEEC are open to the public, free of charge, from dawn until dusk, 365 days a year.
