Deer Haven’s 1.5-mile walking trail connects with the 1.5 miles in trails in adjoining Havener Park, for walks through a scenic woodland, along ravines, through prairies and meadows and around wetlands. The Lodge Visitors Center at Deer Haven is open noon-5 p.m. every day. Many of the Park District’s nature programs are held at this 97-acre park. The park includes the Amy Clark-Bader Bird Sanctuary, named for the wife of a park donor whose donation helped to make the Lodge possible. A demonstration garden of native Ohio plants is located near the entrance of the Lodge, to show visitors ways they can improve habitat in their own yards, to aid pollinators and other wildlife. Deer Haven is part of the Preservation Parks of Delaware County district.
