The Environmental Education Center (EEC) is a sustainable, green venue for small to mid-sized events such as meetings, workshops, classes, team building, weddings, showers, parties, picnics, and family reunions. In holding your event at the Environmental Education Center or its surrounding gardens, you provide your guests or participants with a relaxing natural setting while demonstrating best practices for living green at home or work. Hours: The gardens are open daily during daylight hours. Private or business events may be scheduled as needed outside of normal hours. The EEC is more than a building. The grounds also include two gardens open to the public: Texas SmartScape Garden: A learning environment which incorporates the site’s natural habitats and topography as an interactive, educational demonstration focused on drought-tolerant landscaping and water-efficient irrigation. This garden showcases native and well-adapted plants for the North Texas area, which are both heat and drought tolerant. Visitors learn how to conserve and preserve the health of water and soil. It features a meandering trail, artwork made of recycled materials, and intimate areas perfect for conversation. Nature Explore Garden: Surrounding landscape showcases key ecological concepts, including: composting, worm composting, recycling, gardening, animal habitats, ecological cycles and water issues.
