Located within the Fountain Creek floodplain, numerous species of waterfowl and other aquatic animals such as muskrat and beaver are attracted to Fountain Creek Regional Park by the creek, marsh, and spring-fed ponds. Great blue herons are plentiful among the 230 species of birds that have been sighted within the park, and red foxes, wild turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, and white-tailed deer abound within the park’s meadows and mature cottonwood forest.
