The Giant Sequoia National Monument is a publicly owned treasure in California’s southern Sierra Nevada. The Monument’s diverse geologic formations, ecosystems, and human history hold unique opportunities for public education, scientific study, and recreation. The Monument covers 328,000 acres of the Sequoia National Forest. Six groves are featured for you to explore for a rich, exciting, and varied experience: three groves in the northern portion of the Monument in the Hume Lake Ranger District, near Dunlap, California; and three groves in the southern portion of the Monument in the Western Divide Ranger District just east of Springville, California. Indian Basin Grove is one of the few groves with a campground: Princess Campground. Roads are subject to snow closures during winter months.
