Nature Center: Birding, Hike, Nature Education, Walk, Wildlife
The Lake Waco Wetlands was created to mitigate the habitat loss when Lake Waco was raised by those seven feet. With the addition of the Research and Education Center, it has grown to become an important living laboratory for research, education and recreation. The Lake Waco Wetlands and the Research and Education Center are open to the public Monday through Friday and alternating Saturdays from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. The wetland grounds are open to the public even without the Research and Education Center being open, just enter through the pedestrian gate and walk through.
