Ledge View Nature Center is a Calumet County Park best known for its cave system and 105 acres of wooded ledges and open prairie include hiking trails, a 60-foot observation tower offering expansive countryside views, and a nature center staffed full-time by county naturalist assistants. Caves and quarry, long recognized as educational opportunities, are featured prominently in programs at Ledge View. In addition, visitors can enjoy an arboretum; interactive exhibits on bats, lake sturgeon, birds, and the Niagara Escarpment; and check out the flowers in the rain, butterfly, and hummingbird gardens. The building is open from 8 am – 4:30 pm seven days a week, except holidays. The trails are open from dawn to dusk. There is no fee to hike the trails or walk through the nature center.
