Organization
Marietta Tree Keepers is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to planting, preserving and protecting trees in and around the city of Marietta, Ga. Marietta is a city rich in history, yet challenged by tremendous growth.
We were established in 2002 by City Councilman Johnny Sinclair and work very closely with the city government. The organization grew out of a need identified by a local citizens group named Involved Mariettans Planning Actively for the City of Tomorrow (IMPACT). In its first year, the organization raised $20,000 in grants, more than $5,000 in memberships and donations and planted more than 120 trees. The organization has one paid staff member, 17 directors, 10 city of Marietta staff liaisons and more than 125 volunteers. We have planted trees in more than 13 locations within the city and have vigorous future plans.
