The OWT will someday cross Olympia from the western boundary with Tumwater at Capitol Lake to the eastern boundary with Lacey at the Chehalis-Western Trail. The first section of the trail opened to public use on August 7, 2007. The first phase of OWT is the 1.63 mile long section from Eastside Street to Dayton Street. It links with the Interstate 5 Bike Path at Boulevard and Dayton. Improvements include a 10′ wide, asphalt trail and a 4′ crushed rock trail. Built on an abandoned railroad corrider, the gentle grade is easy for all users. Visitors enjoy the beautiful woodlands and Indian Creek.
