Offers a gorgeous vista, six miles of trails and guided nature walks, in addition to nature based educational programs ! The Pfeiffer Nature Center was founded in 1998 through a bequest from Wendy Pfeiffer Lawrence. The Pfeiffer Nature Center is a non-profit, tax exempt organization with the purpose of building a foundation of knowledge, understanding, and appreciation for the intrinsic value and aesthetic qualities of our natural world. Located near Portville and Olean, New York, the Center promotes responsibility and stewardship for nature within the local and the global community through a variety of programs. A variety of ecotypes are found on the property, including coniferous, oak, and mixed deciduous forests. The 188 acres includes an 85 acre old-growth remnant with large specimens of Eastern Hemlock, White Pine, American Beech, and Red Oak. The center offers approximately 9 miles of trails, spectacular views and educational programs for visitors of all ages.

  • The Lillibridge Property consists 188 acres and 6 miles of hiking trails. One of our trails on this property is handicapped-accessible.  It is home to a national & state registered historic cabin and is one of the largest privately held and easily accessible tracts of old-growth forest in our region. It boasts a beautiful NY State champion Tupleo tree, aged at over 500 years old! The Lillibridge Property is located at 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville, NY 14770.
  • The Eshelman Property has 488 acres and has nearly 4 miles of trails through wetlands and secondary growth forest.  Historically a small farm, this property has a variety of habitat, successional forest, wetlands, and mixed areas. Birders especially enjoy this property during migration events.  The Eshelman Property is located at 1420 Yubadam Road, Portville NY.

Both properties are generally open, dawn to dusk, year round. Unguided activities are not permitted after dark. The Eshelman property is closed October through December for hunting season.
