This 2,091-acre state forest is named for its location, the Lewis County town of Pinckney, and for the main access road of the same name passing east to west through the area. Recreational opportunities on the forest are varied with a wide range of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Trout fishing and woodland hiking and biking in the spring and summer leads to white-tailed deer hunting in the fall, then winter sports including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, snowshoe hare hunting, and trapping.
