Formerly known as Robert E. Lee Park, the over 500 acre park, leased to Baltimore County, is a multi-faceted facility with numerous trails, nature and environmental programs, a dog park, pavilions, and waterfront activities, such as canoeing and kayaking for all to enjoy. It offers the opportunity for users to enjoy the rare plant life that exists only in the serpentine barrens. The County works in partnership with the Lake Roland Nature Council. Both groups are working cooperatively to insure that the park continues to address the needs of both the community and all users of the park. The proposed (to open in 2016) Lake Roland Nature and Environmental Education Center will provide year round education and meeting space with a central location near the Ranger Station. Paw Point is a fenced, one acre off leash dog park which is located within Lake Roland. Canoeing and kayaking are allowed at Lake Roland. A permit is not required.
