1,800 acre wildlife preserve houses over 3500 animals representing 260 species and is a botanical garden. The Wild Animal Park is approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of the Zoo, near the city of Escondido. The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park, near downtown San Diego.
