From the Daily Telegraph: Stowe is a chocolate-box town, but with skiing that’s anything but soft-centred. It is one of the most delightful places in New England, on the slopes or off. The skiing is a short, picturesque hop from downtown on a free shuttle. Mount Mansfield is the main area, served by a fast gondola which swishes up to the highest point in Vermont 4,395 feet above sea level.
