The 243.3 acres of this park range from 23 acres of restored freshwater marsh accessible by a 1,000-foot boardwalk to the 102.2-acre Pine Island Ridge, an archaeological site that includes equestrian and nature trails and, at 29 feet above sea level, is the highest natural elevation in Broward County. Behind the main office assembly complex, there is a sculpture dedicated to the Seminole leader Sam Jones (Abiaka). Equestrian Trails: The park is known for its extensive network of horse trails, which were developed in cooperation with the South Florida Trail Riders Association. There are more than seven miles of designated trails, including some in the Pine Island Ridge Natural Area. Riders may bring in their own horses or use horses provided by AA-D Horse Adventures (see below). Equestrian Activities: Guided trail rides and pony rides are provided through the park’s partnership with AA-D Horse Adventures (954-830-7800), a private concessionaire.
